Yesterday, as I listened in church to one member's testimony, later followed by another member's teaching, both about those who have passed from this life and crossed the veil, but without the knowledge and/or ordinances of the Gospel, I was impressed to write the following new poem about these spirits and what they desire from those of us who remain here in mortality on the other side of the veil.
Longing
Long has my body lain below
Yet I have strived to learn and grow
As gospel truths I've come to know
A testimony I have gained
And so for me the time has come
I long to be with Him as one
Oh may my work now soon be done
May my progression be sustained
Oh may your spirit hear my pleas
Please minister unto my needs
I beg you set my spirit free
Salvation I long to obtain
As to the temple you doth go
I hope within your heart you'll know
Blessings for me and you shall flow
My gratitude shan't be constrained
And when at last we shall embrace
With tears I'll gaze upon your face
So glad you've helped me access grace
Sweet exaltation to attain
