Memories of our father's passing

My sweet Sister, Arlea Gibson, shared these beautiful thoughts of what we all shared this past month that we spent by our father's  bedside. Thanks to all who were able to come to celebrate his life, well lived, with all of us.
"Let your light so shine that others may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven."

I arrived home from a month away, sitting by my father's side, holding his hand, annointing his forhead, feet, arms, hands, and shoulders with oil of frankencense. He told all of us hundreds of times "I love you, you are so precious." We slept by his side many nights. We laughed, cried, sang songs and said family prayers. We have embraced each other and sobbed our deepest grief. We have been lifted up with surprise visits of family and dear friends.
My own spirits soared as I walked into the crowded foyer of the church and down the hallways where you walked, into the people-filled room where Dad lay, and into the chapel full of all your beautiful faces, old like mine and young. I loved touching your hands, arms and shoulders, kissing your cheeks and hugging you tightly or merely catching your eye from a distance. I loved being surrounded by my children and grandchildren sharing their profound love for their grandfather. The time was too short, and the visits were too brief, but your love will be felt forever.
Thank you for sharing your love of this man with us.
