This has been such an incredible week. I flew to Denver so I could attend the mission homecoming talk of one of my granddaughters. Many other wonderful things also happened. I was able to attend the play that one of my grandson's was in. He did an amazing job with his Italian accent! It was amazing. On Saturday I went to watch a competition my granddaughter Emily was in. She is on their Flag team. They took 2nd place in the competion. It was so fun to watch them perform.
All of my children and grandchildren who live in Denver were able to come over Sunday night and Monday night to visit. We had so much fun talking, laughing and reminiscing. Sunday night at the open house for my granddaughter, one of her friends happened to mention that he had served a mission in Fresno, California. I asked if he had met any Hmongs while he was there. He was Spanish speaking on his mission so he didn't really have much contact with them. However, he had a Hmong travel companion on his way home after his mission. We soon realized that it was the son of one of my Hmong friends. We quickly called them and they came over to the Open House. We had a wonderful visit with them.
They then invited us to their home for Tuesday night for a Hmong dinner, including their delicious meat rolls. While we were at their house, after dinner, they mentioned a Laotian man who had been a member years ago and had just returned a few months ago and was in their ward. It turned out to be a wonderful man whose family we had the opportunity to help many years ago. We called him and he came over to visit. Another Hmong lady that I have known for years was also there for dinner. It was such a great joy to see all of these dear friends after so many years. It was fun to share stories with them and have my daughter and 3 of her children there to hear all the stories. I hope it touched their hearts.
